Soie d’Alger is a stranded spun silk with 7 plies, which are easily divided. The silk is made from a spun silk called “strusas” which brings beautiful regularity to your hand embroidery.
The skeins are 5 meters (approx. 5.5 yards), and are skein dyed to provide even, consistent coloration. Made continuously by the same firm since the late 19th century.
